In Japan, it is said that 1 in 5 people and 1 in 3 people over the age of 60 suffer from insomnia-related issues. Recently, the number of specialized clinics for insomnia has increased, and many methods and advice for improving insomnia are being highlighted in the media.
At our clinic, we provide care to improve symptoms even for those without a definitive diagnosis of insomnia but with subjective symptoms.
By interpreting the changes in peripheral blood vessel volume as pulse waves and converting them into acceleration pulse waves, we can analyze peripheral blood circulation (vascular aging). By extracting and analyzing pulse rates from the intervals of pulse wave peaks, we can evaluate the balance of the autonomic nervous system.
Objectively understanding the condition of the autonomic nervous system, which is one of the causes of insomnia, provides important information for determining the direction of treatment.
This diagnosis is conducted simultaneously with the autonomic nervous system diagnosis.
Using pillows with a height of 0.5–7 cm, we determine the best height by checking the following three points. (We do not sell pillows.)
① Muscle tension in the neck (sternocleidomastoid muscle)
② Breath sounds of the upper chest during resting breathing
③ Diaphragm movement during forced breathing
In treating insomnia, it is crucial to release tension from the head to the shoulders and align the body correctly. Additionally, incorporating acupuncture alongside chiropractic and massage can help achieve better results in regulating the autonomic nervous system. For those who are new to acupuncture or uncomfortable with it, we do not enforce it, so please feel free to consult us.
We also propose additional care based on the progress of your symptoms.
